It's not unusual for you to want to use your own domain name for landing pages created with Vidata, in order to maintain consistency with your brand image and increase visitor confidence. Rather than showing a typical Vidata URL, such as "**https://video.vidata.io/votre-video/?id=28puxbj635x**", you might want to display something like "**https://videos.votremarque.com/votre-video**".
Vidata can host a customised Landing Page for you. In order to use your branded domain name, a subdomain redirect must take place. For example, you might want to redirect "videos.votremarque.com" to your Vidata Landing Page.
Here are the steps to follow:
After creating the subdomain, log in to your domain provider and navigate to the DNS settings. More details 👇👇
Before you can redirect anything, you'll need a subdomain to redirect. A subdomain is essentially an extension of your main domain. For example, if your website is "www.votremarque.com", a subdomain could be "videos.votremarque.com".
To create a sub-domain, you need to connect to your domain provider. This is the service where you registered your domain name. Examples of popular domain providers include GoDaddy, Google Domains, and OVH.
Once you have logged into your account with the domain provider, look for an option to manage your DNS (Domain Name System). This option can often be found in the "Domains" or "DNS" section.
In this section, you should be able to create a new sub-domain. The exact process may vary depending on your domain provider, but in general you'll need to enter the prefix you want for your sub-domain (for example, "videos" if you want "videos.votremarque.com") and select the domain it should be associated with.
Add a CNAME record and point it to the address sent to you by your Vidata contact. More details 👇👇
Once you've created your subdomain, the next step is to create a CNAME record. This record is a type of DNS record that redirects visitors to your subdomain to another internet address.
Here's how to do it:
Once you have created the CNAME record, the redirection from the subdomain to the Vidata address is in place. This means that when someone visits "videos.votremarque.com", they will be redirected to your personalised landing page on Vidata.
Note that DNS changes can take some time to propagate across the internet, usually up to 24 hours, so don't worry if the redirect doesn't work immediately.
Now Vidata will be able to configure the page so that it can be accessed with the chosen domain name. It's that simple!
